Legend – 3D Seismic Identified New Prospective Areas At Mawson

Background
Legend Mining is focused on exploration at its nickelcopper Rockford Project in the Fraser Range, Western Australia. Legend are the first junior exploration company to undertake
“The structural detail of the Mawson intrusion that this modelling has produced is outstanding. When coupled with comprehensive geological, geochemical and
geophysical data sets that Legend has acquired over recent years, compelling drill targets have been designed to test prospective features for the nickel-copper mineralisation we are looking for.”

Solution
HiSeis were commissioned to complete a 6.5km2 3D seismic survey to image and define the architecture of the Mawson intrusion in relation to the stratigraphic package, to a depth of at least 1000m below surface. Automated technology products FAULT-MOD and SEISOMICS were used to aid interpretation.
Outcomes
The Mawson discovery zone is clearly evident in the seismic imaging with 3D seismic reflectors mapping the mineralized chonolith in drilled areas down to 500m and is interpreted to extend below the Mawson fault. Subsequent drilling confirmed extensions to the Chonolith as predicted from the seismic. An additional 3D survey was later commissioned for Legend Mining’s Octagonal prospect
