“The information seismic surveying gives us is unparalleled technically in my view, let alone providing, on a bang-for-buck cost basis, a very, very good dataset for the money that you spend”
How Northern Star’s Zodiac gold discovery transformed after applying 3D seismic surveying.
Target was generated from a 3D seismic survey performed over 10km² which will continue to enhance the geological understanding of Jundee
Presentation about how Northern Star managed to expand their life of mine with 10 years by applying seismic survey to their Zodiac discovery.
Significantly the 3D seismic survey maps the location of both known fault/vein systems as well as a significant number of other faults likely to host epithermal veins.

This is potentially a breakthrough technology to map complex fault and vein systems and together with other geologic parameters directly target parts of the fault likely to host gold mineralisation. The current and planned drill programmes are the critical test in enabling Evolution to compress the timeframes for new discoveries around Pajingo and Cracow through the use of 3D seismic.
Based on 3D models created using recently acquired seismic data, two new diamond drill holes were planned, each planned to drill to a minimum depth of 600m.

A new prospective ultramafic-amphibolite sequence identified below the current deposit and further significant intersections from existing deposit were discovered. How the use of 3D seismic survey has the potential to significantly influence the future and direction of exploration strategy and growth potential
Seismic promises a revolution for mineral explorers
29 March 2012
The use of seismic in mineral exploration is undergoing a revolution, with HiSeis in the forefront of the trend.
As a result of a high-resolution 3D seismic survey completed earlier this year over a 21 square kilometre area (by HiSeis), several new exploration targets near the Neves-Corvo mine were identified.
December 15, 2011
Seismic clearly indicated a southerly extension of the Semblana deposit and a new copper sulphide deposit south of Semblana. Several new exploration targets was discovered and identified near the Neves-Corvo mine after applying high-resolution 3D seismic survey.
A high-resolution 3D seismic survey has now been completed over a 21 square kilometre area surrounding the Neves-Corvo mine.
July 21, 2011
Preliminary results have clearly imaged the major Semblana deposit, verifying the effectiveness of this new tool in the search for blind massive sulphide deposits. Lundin Mining applied high-resolution 3D seismic survey over a 21 square kilometre area surrounding the Neves-Corvo mine in Portugal.
